From the south of England (Surrey) I normally allow 2 days for the trip stopping half way through France overnight in a Campanile bhotel/b (Beaune or Chalon sur Saone area) which can be booked ahead on the internet. (leaving UK early morning means you can arrive about 5 or 6pm). Some people get to the south of France in 1 day but that includes night driving and really needs 2 drivers to share for safety/tiredness, etc. ...
